Kivalina (Alaska) is a remote city with difficult access in the North Arctic. The city is located in a narrow reef trapped between the ocean and a lagoon and with almost four hundred citizens, Iñupiat Eskimos, they will be the next displaced due to climate change in the U.S.A.

The experts predict that the town will be completely submerged by 2025 due to the erosion caused by the faster melting of Arctic. They will have to be relocated due to the rising of the level of water.

Since a lot of generations before, the Iñupiats have lived of hunting and fishing and they have been expert bowhead whales hunters. Nowadays, the winters are becoming shorter and warmer, which threat their traditional lifestyle. They haven´t hunted a bowhead whale from 1994.

The only way to get to Kivalina is by plane. There is no evacuation path in the face of floods. They have a relocation plan, worth 400 million dollars to relocate the city completely. There are still many doubts about this plan. Meanwhile, the people of Kivalina try to live their day to day without knowing how long they could live in their homes safely.
