War Mapu (The War of earth)

War Mapu narrates the embed conflict of the indigenous Mapuche people in Chile, a struggle in which state-sponsored companies exploit the ñukemapu (Mother Earth).

In the Mapudungun language, Mapuche means “people of the earth”. Its ancestral culture is based on the connection and coexistence with the four elements, water, air, fire and earth. Since the first settlers, the Mapuche people have always tried to defend their territory and way of life. The countless victims have always been perpetrated and concealed by Chilean economic and political power.

International and national organizations have repeatedly denounced and condemned the violence and repeated violations of human rights. Nowadays the Mapuche live this open war, silenced, between their love of their culture and the fear of violence and oppression exerted on them.
